The new version of the Tools4MSP Geoplatform is now available at the following URL geoplatform.tools4msp.eu. The use of the current site for the creation of new contents is now discouraged. However this site will continue to remain active and the resources (layers, maps, users) will continue to be accessible.

Purpose

The National Protected Sites in this layer have been collected in the framework of the CoCoNet project (Towards COast to COast NETworks of marine protected areas, coupled with sea-based wind energy potential) with the aim to have a map of the marine and coastal protected sites in the Mediterranean Sea and Black Sea.

Data Quality

Data comes from different already existing databases (MAPAMED, CDDA) and from CoCoNet partners. All the MPAs are from MAPAMED project. The contents have been modified according to the expert opinion of the CoCoNet partners.
