- Title
- Distribution of Physically Sensitive Area (PSA)
- Abstract
Climatological maps of Physically Sensitive Area Index in the Adriatic – Ionian Macroregion provided by EMIS – Environmental Marine Information System (EU-JRC) (http://emis.jrc.ec.europa.eu/emis_5_0.php). The product derives from the algorithm developed within JRC and uses physical and biological variables to assess the hydrodynamic processes at the surface and the physical and biological conditions at the seabed that represent favorable conditions for eutrophication (Djavidnia & al., 2005). PSA provides a comparable measurement of the physical resistance to eutrophication, hence oxygen deficiency, on a simple scale from 0 [high resistance] to 1 [low resistance]. The aggregated product is developed by OGS-NODC (http://nodc.ogs.trieste.it/nodc/).
